April 22 - April 24
Classic Fighters 2011 'V For Victory'
The Allies are on the offensive, with some of the greatest, iconic fighter aircraft in history going head to head. The battle is on for victory in Europe, during the Great War of 1914-18 and again in the Second World War of 1939-1945.
Classic Fighters 2011 will place heritage aviation on display, in an action-packed weekend, amid the magnificent scenery of Marlborough at wine harvest time.
The show will be held over three days of Easter weekend, April 22-24, with Friday night’s Twilight Extreme kicking off the formal entertainment, following a day of practise displays also open to the public. Saturday and Sunday are the main show days but don’t think that attending just one day will be enough! Although you can expect to see many of the 70+ aircraft flying each day, the way they are displayed in the theatrical scenarios will change. Watch for programme updates.
The theme for the 2011 event may see the war action over Europe, but the public area will be firmly located on Churchill’s defiant home ground. Our props department are busy on both arenas, set dressing within the public area to suggest an English country village and building all manner of structures and machines, to be blown sky high on the other side of the fence.
If you would prefer a quiet meander around the stalls, there will be plenty to see amongst the craft and trade sites. Sip a glass of delectable Marlborough wine or beer and sample from the extensive range of food stalls. There will be a Fun Zone for the kids and if you are a classic / vintage car fan, you will enjoy perusing the many vehicles brought together for the weekend’s Classic Car Festival.
Be sure to get your tickets early for the best price and avoid the queues on the day. Remember, Gold Passes are limited!
