Omaka Hangar Tours - Heritage Festival 2026
Step Behind the Hangar Doors This Heritage Festival
Most visitors to Omaka Aviation Heritage Centre experience aviation history through immersive exhibitions. But beyond the gallery floor, another story is unfolding, one of careful restoration and craftsmanship. This May, as part of the Marlborough Heritage Festival, we're opening the doors to that hidden world.
A Rare Behind-the-Scenes Experience
For a limited time, visitors can join an exclusive tour of the Omaka Workshop Hangar, a working space where historic aircraft are restored and preserved.
This is not a typical museum visit. You'll see various stages of restoration and gain insight into the detailed work required to bring them back to life. From structural repairs to historical accuracy, every project reveals a new layer of aviation history.
For Aviation Enthusiasts
This tour is designed for those with a genuine interest in aviation history and restoration. With small group sizes and knowledgeable guides, there's time to ask questions and take a closer look. The Workshop Hangar is not normally open to the public, making this rare opportunity to experience a side of Omaka few visitor see.
Make a Day of It
After your tour, relax in the on-site cafe and reflect on what you've discovered. To celebrate the festival, enjoy 2-for-1 museum entry from 15-24 May 2026. Bookings in person only. Mention "Heritage Promo" when purchasing.
Limited Spaces Available
Each tour is limited to 20 people, with only two sessions available.
